In Key Stage One our day is organised so that morning sessions are more formal, covering the essential skills of literacy and maths. Afternoon topic sessions are delivered through creative activities.
These sessions cover:-
Science, Geography, History, PHSCE, ICT, Design and Technology, Art and Music. Religious Education is taught as a discrete subject.
The children have access to two hours of PE each week which allows them to take part in games, gymnastics or dance.
Each Key Stage One class provides the opportunity for speaking and listening through role play. Each classroom has both drama and role play areas situated within it. These areas are linked to the topic studied each half term and the children are encouraged to take ownership of them. Role play is important to help the children to develop their social skills, speaking and listening skills, confidence, self esteem and writing skills.
